A STUDY ON THE CHEMICAL COMPONENTS OF LEAF ESSENTIAL OILS FROM CINNAMOMUM PLATYPHYLLUM COLLECTED IN DIFFERENT SEASONS

  • The chemical components of the leaf essential oils from Cinnamomum platyphyllum collected in spring, summer, autumn, and winter of 1984 were analyzed by a combined JMS-D300-JMA 2000 systam and a SIGMA 2000 capillary gas chromatograph. Of 207—250 components isolated by a 50m×0.25mm i.d. bonded OV-101 fused silica glass column and recorded by a LCI-100 laboratory computing integrator, 59 components which make up 94.45—98.92% of the total oils were identified. The major components varied with the seasons in which the leaves were collected. The major components of the oils extracted in spring, autumn, and winter were camphor (25.89—36.28%) and 1,8-cineolc (20.55—27.47%). and in summer neral (21.849%), geranial (26.90%), and camphor (26.23%).
